Sterling silver - reclaimed
Brass moon
Royston turquoise
Faceted jade bead strand - mined in Canada - adjustable from 16-18”
Ode to rut season with this piece. I love this one in so many ways. If you’re here reading this, I bet the deer is special to you as well. I was inspired to make this piece from this one buck I have seen a few times on my way to take my daughter to school in the mornings. It’s a big one - 9 point. Each time I see him, he’s running through this field and he stops at the tree line and looks back at me. If I didn’t know their behavior well enough, I would think I’m the chosen one, lol.
This Royston turquoise is brilliant. The green and brown remind me of the earth and I found it necessary to match that green with some jade. I topped it off with a full brass moon. In my mind, that buck is the king of the hill and I’m just lucky to get to see it from time to time.
Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost morebecause of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
