Dear Albatross,
From what I know, you are the storm of the Ancient Mariner. The lore of sailor’s delight - the strength of the wave and the power of flight. You are faithful to your own kind unless you get tangled in the net of human affairs. I’ve read about your whereabouts and how you elegantly glide a constant drift over the vast oceans. I may have never seen you in person, but I know you as a teacher to us all - a power of guidance and a watchman over the swell.
This piece is made from seven layers of reclaimed sterling silver and 14k gold. The width is around four inches and two inches in height. It hangs from a sturdy sterling silver chain that is adjustable up to 18 inches. The stone in the center is Royston turquoise mined out of Nevada, USA. I was careful to make the necklace wearable and comfortable. It isn’t heavy and sits very nicely below the neckline.
Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost more because of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
Made with love - one of a kind, twisted, bent, set, sawn, stamped, fired by my own two hands.
