Want to expand on your basic metalsmithing skills? Whether you are in it as a hobby or looking to make some money on the side or full-time, this class will provide you the skills to deepen your understanding of metalsmithing.
What to expect:
You will have your own workstation with all the necessary tools within the workshop.Â
I have room to accommodate six to seven students. There is a flex shaft station for cleaning up your ring at the end of class. We use acetylene torches which is what I learned on.Â
We will be making three separate pieces. We will start with a statement ring. Next we will work on a cuff. The third piece will be earrings. I will guide you through adding accents, etching and/or critters or plant life to your pieces. The photos I provided are examples of the designs you can make in this class.
Please bring your own mouth/nose protection. I have a good ventilation system when soldering, but having a face mask or respirator is necessary when working with the flex shafts.
My workshop is upstairs. If you need to work downstairs, please reach out.Â
The cost of the class includes:
-
30 hours of instructionÂ
- use of my toolsÂ
- fine silver bezel strip for stone setting
- jump rings for earrings
- stones
Material not included. Here is what you need to order:
- I have put together a list of sterling silver sheet that is recommended for this class. Follow the link. You will most likely not need all of the silver in this list but you will be using enough of each gauge. You will have extra to take home. https://www.riogrande.com/

Expect to take a 30 minute lunch break around noon. Bring your lunch with you as the workshop isn’t close enough to restaurants for a 30 min lunch.
Workshop Location:
Shop Address: 11 Old Fruit Stand Lane, Tiger, Georgia 30576. The workshop is located right off of old 441. Park in the back and come up the ramp inside. It’s a two story business that looks like a house. It’s white and is to the right of three smaller white houses that are also businesses.Â
This workshop is located in Tiger, Georgia which is a five minute drive outside of Clayton, GA. Tiger is a small and cute little town with mountain views all around. Clayton, GA has really good restaurants and places to stay.Â
Nearby airports:

- Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International ATL - 1.45 hour drive (depending on traffic)

I find this link very useful for lodging, food and things to do in the area: visitclaytonga.net
