Cicadas have a special place in my heart. They are loud but their noise will rock me to sleep. This Spring, two different broods of periodical cicadas emerge from the ground. A 13-year brood XIX and a 17-year brood X!!! That have not crossed paths since 1803. This massive emergence will cover much of middle America and across the Southern coastal plains to Appalachia. The Cicada, with its red eyes, giant wingspan and screaming mating calls grace us once again with its presence, if only for a fleeting few weeks. They have begone to emerge about 2 hours south of where I live, but I’m waiting for them to emerge soon!

I love this necklace because I’m a bug girl, but also because of the design. The Length makes for an easy piece to wear with just about everything. She’s sturdy and made to be handed down. I LOVE THIS ONE!

Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost more because of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
