I have been fishing for permit and it’s something other worldly. They are the unicorn of a salt water flyfishing trip! You don’t get many chances at casting to them, so when it’s your turn on the boat and the guide yells “Palometa!” you better be ready.
Ever since my trip to Mexico last year, I’ve been dreaming about them. I dreamt up this scene of a crab minding its own business, eating something in the sand, the permit creeping up behind it, ready to eat - In Clear Sight.
This one, y’all… I love it so much! It took a good three months to figure out how to successfully get the Permit to look like it was in the ocean. Thanks to the beautiful opalite that was cut by a terrific rock hound in Joshua Tree, I was able to make a permit piece of my dreams.
Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost more because of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
All of my jewelry is stamped .925 and or 14-24k gold. This is helpful for resell value if you ever decide to pass it on.
