Foxy the Cuff
Sterling silver and 14k gold - reclaimed
1” wide and 6” end to end with a 1” opening
$1050
I’m proud of myself for this one. Cuffs take a lot of heat to solder and when you’re working with expensive material like gold, you don’t want to screw up. I knew I wanted to make something big and bold, and although I was intimidated as heck, it ended up so good that I couldn’t believe my own skills.
Like most of my work, it’s one of a kind. No one else will be wearing a cuff like it and that makes me feel good. It’s made from thick gauge reclaimed sterling silver AND reclaimed 14k gold. Most of the silver is from melted down scraps of old jewelry and the gold is from a couple of broken rings. Fox medicine is strong and I built this cuff to hold up to that sentiment.
With all jewelry pieces, but especially cuffs - it is important to open and close your cuff very little. My advice is to pull the cuff open just enough to SLIP onto the side of your wrist (the thinnest part of the wrist) and then close enough to feel like it won't slip off. And then let it be and enjoy.
Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost morebecause of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
All of my jewelry is stamped .925 and or 14-24k gold. This is helpful for resell value if you ever decide to pass it on.
