Sterling silver - reclaimed
brass sun
gold fill accents
chrysoprase stone
brass and turquoise tips
The woodcock is a special bird to me. They thrive in the cane break on our property and when I take my walks in the evenings, they sometimes explode from the switch cane. It’s quite a startle, but more of a heart swell. If you are here reading this, I bet you love these birds too.
The sterling silver bolo piece measures 2” long and 1.5” wide. The chrysoprase stone represents water and the green of switch cane. The brass represents the sun setting over the woods. I used thick gauge sterling wire and sheet. The woodcock is three layers of sterling silver deep. The leather tie is made from soft brown leather, imported from Germany. The leather can be adjusted to your size (please email me after purchase at dirtroadwares@gmail.com). I used brass bullet casings for the tips and added small turquoise stones to the tips for added beauty. This is one of a kind and you will not find anything else like it out there.
Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost morebecause of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
