There’s a story behind these earrings. I volunteer for non-profit organizations like the Becca Sue Klien All Kids Fish event held in northeast, GA. I was guiding a participant on a sunny day back in October and as we were watching her drift, we heard a commotion on the other side of the river. It was a HUGE black snake racing down the embankment. It snatched a trout right from the river and with its head held tall (and weighted from its catch), it slithered its way back up the hill to eat in peace. We stood there with jaws wide open in amazement. She told me later that seeing that moment in nature happen was her favorite part of the day. I also get to teach about conservation at these events so her sentiment felt extra special.
So, here ya have Black Snake earrings. In honor of the snake, the sun, and being lucky enough to see young women experience the spirit of the wild world around them.
Note to buyer: The reclaiming process is a bit of a long one. Most of the sterling silver I buy is from well used jewelry that isn't being worn anymore or has been broken. I also buy used sterling silverware. I melt it all down and roll it into sheet and wire. This means that I don't have to buy freshly mined silver that is much easier to work with. Reclaimed pieces cost more because of this extra process. In the end, reclaiming metal for my wares is gratifying and worth it to me. I hope you feel the same. With love.
